Tribute & Message From The Family

Betty A. Miller (nee Waldrop) completed her earthly journey on November 14, 2021 at the age of 90 at her home surrounded by loved ones.
Betty was born in Elva, KY to Theron and Bessie Waldrop on Christmas Eve in 1930, the fourth of six children. After growing up on the family farm and graduating from high school, she moved to Paducah, KY to live with her aunt and uncle and begin work at Magnavox, where she met her future husband. She was married to William (Bill) E. Miller in 1951 in Corinth, MS and lived in Symsonia, KY until they moved to Northern Illinois in the early 1960s. Betty and Bill became members of the First Baptist Church of McHenry where they were deeply involved in church programs. Betty was a Sunday school teacher and Women's Missionary Union president.
Betty and Bill enjoyed traveling in their motorhome and appreciating the beauty of nature across the United States including Alaska. Betty was an avid painter and a member of various local art chapters. Her participation in several "Big Brush" painting workshops enhanced her natural artistic talent over the years. Her love of artwork and antiques was reflected in her home d├ęcor. She showcased pieces at multiple venues including "Tapestry Antiques" in McHenry, a small family business started by her daughter.
She is survived by her husband, Bill Miller of McHenry, IL, brother David Waldrop of Union City, TN, daughter Cindy Miller (Chuck Fernstrom) of McHenry, IL, granddaughter Michelle (Shelley) Johnson-Motoyama (Yas Motoyama) of Upper Arlington, OH, grandson Ryan Miller (Leslie Miller) of Queen Creek, AZ, and seven great-grandchildren including Kai and Elyse Motoyama, Rylie and Raelyn Miller, and Kaylee, Joey, and Ella Stephenson. Her extended family members are far too numerous to mention but she loved and was loved by all. Betty was preceded in death by her parents, her siblings, Vernon, Audra, Ruth, and Norma, and her son Daniel R. Miller of Johnsburg, IL.
Betty will be remembered as a bright and shining light to her family, friends, and the communities in which she participated. Her kindness and care will be deeply missed. Services will be held for Betty on Wednesday, November 24th at Colonial Funeral Home in McHenry, IL. Visitation will be held from 11a.m. to 1p.m. followed by a funeral service from 1p.m. to 2p.m. at the same location. Internment to follow at Windridge Cemetery in Cary, IL. Memorial contributions can be made in Betty's name to a charity of the donor's choice.
The family would like to extend their gratitude to Nisa, Chris, and JourneyCare for their continued care and support.
