Obituary

Charlene S. Reichert passed away Saturday, February, 25, 2017 surrounded by the love of family. She was born in Woodstock, IL on May 19, 1948, the daughter of Edwin and Eleanore Reid. On May 5, 1973, she married Thomas Reichert at St. Patrick's church in McHenry.
Growing up in McCullom Lake and McHenry, Charlene attended St. Patrick's School, and was a 1966 graduate of McHenry Community High School. She was a member of the Viscounts Drum & Bugle Corps and also was a member of the McHenry American Legion Auxiliary Post 491.
After high school, Charlene worked at the McHenry Plaindealer setting type and at the McHenry Medical Group transcribing medical dictation. She also worked in clerical, and administrative positions at fifth Army Headquarters, Fort Sheridan, Illinois; great Lakes Naval Training base, North Chicago, Illinois; and USPFO, Camp San Luis Obispo, when she moved to California. After Char and Tom married in 1973, they moved to Southern California. Other than a couple of years spent in Texas, they lived and raised their family in San Diego, San Luis Obispo, and Carlsbad, CA.
Charlene was a fabulous cook, and loved to entertain family and friends in her home. She also loved to travel. She visited nearly all 50 states including Alaska and Hawaii. Her travels also took her to England, Ireland, Scotland, France, Italy, Norway, Switzerland, Germany, China, Canada, & Mexico.
The last three years of her life, she was full-time "Meema" to her adorable Granddaughter, Fiona. She was also blessed with her grandson, Landon, just weeks before she passed away.
Even though Charlene spent her married life away from McHenry, she maintained close ties with her parents, siblings, and friends in McHenry by visiting often. She will be remembered for her ease in making and keeping friendships throughout her lifetime, her dedication to her children and grandchildren and her commitment to family traditions.
Charlene is survived by her husband Thomas ; children, Brittany , Shannon( Josh) , and Trae; grandchildren, Fiona, and Landon; Siblings, Bud(Vikee) Reid, Bernadine( Michael) Mould, Ronald Reid, Cindy Bateman, Noelle(Terry) Reid- Andrews; foster siblings, Paulo(Daisy) Lopes- Brasil, Georgia(Evripidis) Panagopolou-Greece, and Patricia Harris- Gordon,NE; she is further survived by many nieces, nephews , great nieces, and great nephews.
She is preceded in death by her Parents, Edwin and Eleanore Reid.
A celebration of life will be held on June 24, 2017, at 1103 W. Goodview Ave., Johnsburg, IL 60051, from 3:00-8:00PM.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Charlene's name to St. Elizabeth Seton Church, 6628 Santa Isabel St. Carlsbad, CA. 92009.
