Obituary for Daniel Frank Davidson

June 24, 1944 - October 1, 2020
McHenry, Illinois | Age 76

On Thursday, October 1st, 2020, Daniel Frank Davidson, loving husband and father of 2 daughters, passed away at the age of 76 from complications of leukemia.

He was born June 24, 1944 in Chicago, IL to Catherine and Bernard (Pop) Davidson. He was the 4th child and only son in the family. He is survived by his sisters Diana (Wilson), Donna (Charles) and Doreen (Angelo). He was raised in Oak Lawn then moved to McHenry where he graduated from high school and later went on to graduate with honors from the College of Lake County with his degree in Culinary Arts. He was known to everyone in the family as the "Swedish Chef".

He met his wife Joanne in Chicago while both working at the First National Bank. They have been married for 53 years. He was a kind and loving father to Laura (Devin) and Lisbeth (Steve) and supportive "Papa" to Remi, Rylan, Christina and Reiden. Nothing brought more excitement to him than watching his grandchildren play a good hockey game. He also loved to chat with his grandchildren about all of the happenings in their lives.

Besides being an excellent cook who was known for his delicious Swedish dishes and desserts, he also enjoyed listening to big band music of the 40's, but his favorite was Paul McCartney's Wings. He and his daughters rocked the neighborhood while his wife worked PM shift. He also became a fan of AC/DC as it was featured during many hockey games.

He was known to all for his quick wit, infectious smile and charismatic sense of humor. He knew his daughters and their friends were up to no good, but just smiled and gave them that knowing look, but never said anything.

Though he was color blind his whole life, we are comforted in knowing that he is now seeing all the colors of heaven.

Funeral Mass will take place on Tuesday, October 6, 2020 at 10:00 am at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Johnsburg, IL. Private interment will follow at St. John the Baptist Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may directed to the family for a memorial to be determined.
