First in the house on the Fox River she purchased with her dear friend, Juanita "Wink" Nohava (nee Dill), in the 1970s and continuing to the present after she moved to The Villas in 2009. She was always ready to take her family, friends, and other guests on a "cruise on the Fox" in the boat she kept moored at the dock right out the back door of her house.
Dodie took a position in the Accounting Department at Abbott Laboratories in North Chicago immediately after graduating from Waukegan High School in 1952. She retired in the late 1980s after working at Abbott for 35 years.
