Obituary

Diane Erdman Overton, age 55, died unexpectedly at home, in her sleep on Wednesday, October 31, 2018. She was born in Abington, Pennsylvania on October 5, 1963 to John H. Sr. and Margaret Ann (Flinn) Erdman. She graduated from Grant High School in Fox Lake, IL in 1981. She was a devoted and dedicated 911 Dispatcher to the Mundelein Police Department for 25 years. She had positively impacted so many lives throughout her career at the Police Station, and was a woman of many talents and responsibilities.
Diane enjoyed family time shopping on the boardwalk, as well as, soaking up the sun at the beach, in Ocean City, New Jersey. Many summers were spent there, because she believed "home is where the beach is". Another priority in the summer for Memaw (Diane) was taking her grandbabies to the Wisconsin Dells, to soak up all the love and cuddles she could get. She also had an extraordinary love for horses since a young age and worked hard, eventually having a horse barn of her own. She had a heart of gold; rescuing and caring for many animals, beyond measure.
After college, Diane married Blane Barnett on April 1st, 1989 and had two children. Diane later married Franklin Overton Sr. on July 15th, 2006.
Diane is survived by her loving husband, her son, Brant Barnett, daughter, Brooke Barnett, stepson, Franklin (Erin) Overton Jr., stepson Shannon Overton, and her mother. She was preceded to death by her father, father in-law Ike Overton, and mother in-law Joan Overton. She had four grandchildren, Ethan, Trevin, Cameron and Kaylee Overton who she loved to spoil and spend time with. Diane was also survived by her siblings John (Christine) Erdman Jr., Suzanne (Duane) Hemmerle, Norman (Diane) Erdman, sister in-law Vicki (Larry) Dobereiner, Sheri (Joe) Meseck, Debbie Johann, brother in-law Shannon Overton, as well as many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins.
A Celebration of Diane's life will be on Saturday, November 10th from 1pm-4pm at the Colonial Funeral Home, 591 Ridgeview Drive in McHenry, IL.
