Henrietta Barbara (Hornbostel) Earle was born on November 25, 1931, the day before Thanksgiving to Arthur F. Hornbostel and Amelia Kramer at 4340 Castello Avenue in Chicago, IL. Henrietta was baptized in December 1931 at St. Philomena Catholic Church on North Kedvale in Chicago. She died on Monday December 18, 2017 at the age of 86 at Centegra Hospital-McHenry.
Henrietta attended St. Gertrude's Catholic School & Leyden High School in Franklin Park, IL. In January 1948 at the age of 16, Henrietta began her long career at Kraft Foods as a mail clerk. In 1956 Henrie completed the College of Advanced Traffic 2 year night course in Transportation & Traffic Management through the College of Advanced Traffic, a Northwestern University Evening Division Business School. Her position at Kraft as a Passenger & Transportation Technician lasted until 1968 when she was promoted to Export / Import Transportation Analyst. In 1985 Henrietta was promoted to Manager of Logistics, International Group where she directed a team, plus negotiated freight rates & contracts. Philip Morris Cos. acquired Kraft Foods in the late 1980's, shortly thereafter Henrie was offered severance to retire early.
Henrie married the love of her life Kenneth J. Earle on September 5, 1969 at St. Elizabeth's Episcopal Church on South St. Louis Avenue in Chicago. Ken & "Hank" moved into their favorite home on the Fox River in McHenry, IL in July 1976 and were married for 22 years until his death in December 1991. In addition to Ken, Henrie was preceded in death by her sister Kathryn "Kitty" Hornbostel in January 2007.
She had been a member of Delta Nu Alpha Transportation Fraternity, Chicago Chapter and the WIBC World International Bowling Congress. Her hobbies included bowling, golf, softball & swimming. Henrietta was a devoted fan of the Chicago Cubs and she was very happy to witness the World Series Championship in 2016!
Survivors include her dear friends "The Kraft Gals", plus James & Vickie Drendel of Crystal Lake, IL, Scott Perry also of Crystal Lake and Denette Boston Johnson of Mundelein, IL.
Henrietta's words from a Kraft Foods Employee Skills Inventory: "10 years elapsed after I completed the College Advanced Traffic Management Course, before I was allowed to work in Freight Rates although I had the required education." She was very feisty right up to the end of her life.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, April 7, 2018, from 10am until time of Memorial Mass at 11am at The Church of the Holy Apostles, 5211 Bull Valley Road, McHenry, Illinois.
