Obituary

James Wisner, loving husband and father of three children, passed away peacefully in his home Wednesday, December 5th at the age of 85 in the presence of his family.
Jim was born May, 1933 in Waukegan, Illinois, to Arthur and Minerva Wisner (deceased) of Long Lake, IL. He served two (2) years in the Army during the Korean War, where he learned his cooking skills. He earned his master's degree in School Business Administration from Northern Illinois University where he met his wife of sixty (60) years, Janet Knight. They raised two daughters, Cindy and Charlotte and one son Jeffrey.
He served as Director of Business Affairs for the Glenbrook North and South High Schools for twenty-four (24) years. At Jim's retirement dinner he was described as having worked long hours, provided loyal service with impeccable integrity couple with a sense of humor, keen intelligence and a kind heart a "Man for all Seasons".
Jim was a man of many interest and talents. He had a great sense of humor and quick wit, always ready with a joke, story, gadget or trick to share. He lived life out loud and to the fullest. He loved fishing, golfing, the Bears, cooking, reading, puzzles, music, woodworking, people, boating, skiing, magic, making videos, the circus, nature and much more. He was a firm believer in Christ and lived life with a solid faith. He was a wonderful father, grandfather, and enjoyed many great friendships throughout his life.
Jim is survived by his wife Janet, his three children, Cindy, Jeffrey and Charlotte, his five grandchildren, his brother Richard, and several cousins, nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held on Monday, December 10, 2018 from 10:30 until noon with Ceremony at noon, at the Colonial Funeral Home, 591 Ridgeview Dr., McHenry, IL 60050. Military Honors will follow in the funeral home chapel.
Memorials may be made to Salvation Army or American Liver Society.
