Obituary

James Allen "Jim" Shrum passed away on May 1, 2021 with his family at his side. He turned 70 during his stay in the hospital.

He was born on April 16, 1951. He lived in Boise, Idaho for most of his childhood, but did move around a lot. Boise was his home base and he loved Boise and watching the Boise State Broncos. He did attend Boise State College ( before it became a University ). Jim & Linda met in a Boise Music Week Play, "MAME".
Jim was a U.S. Navy Vietnam Veteran with Agent Orange illnesses. He was a CT during his time in the Navy. Jim also spent some time on the USS Manatee (AO 58). He was a lifetime member of VFW Post 4600 in McHenry.

He spent many years at the V assisting Gary Doud & others with coaching little league teams. The kids will probably remember him with his White Hen mug.
He retired from FEDEX in 2014, he was a Courier and finally a Dispatcher.

He is survived by his wife, Linda, of over 46 years. His children, Josh (Andrea) Shrum, and Eric (Nicole) Shrum. His grandchildren who he adored, Zack (Amber very soon), Connor, Avary and McKenna Shrum. He is also survived by sister-in-law Carol Shrum, Karen Parks, and Laurie (Randy) Hanson.
His Nephews & Nieces: Justin (LeAnn) Lindsey, Becky (Yasha) Kehn, Joel (Rachel) Shrum, Laurie Morgan, Jessica (Eric) Carr, Kristin (Ed) Lanum, Billy (Whitney) Parks, Jeremy (Ashley) Hanson, Justin (Jess Sikraji) Hanson, Jake Hanson and many, many Great Nephews & Nieces.

Jim, was preceded in death by his parents Dowl Bunny and Jean Shrum, his brother Rick Shrum, his mother-in-law Lois K. Lindstrom, his father-in-law Howard Lindstrom, his Uncles Jim Shrum, Dave Shrum, Earl Allen, and his Aunts Katharine Shrum, and Delsa Allen, Brother-in-law Bill Parks, and his grandparents.

Services will be held at the Johnsburg Community Club, 2315 W Church St., Johnsburg, IL 60051 from 10-2 on Saturday, May 29th. It will be a casual service as Casual Fridays was his favorite day at work.

In lieu of flowers we ask that you donate to a favorite charity of your choice; McHenry Little League, the VFW Post 4600 in McHenry or the Veterans Assistance Commission 667 Ware Rd, Woodstock, IL 60098.
