Obituary for Jordan James Johnson

July 2, 2003 - August 5, 2017
McHenry, Illinois | Age 14

Beloved Son, Brother, Grandson, Nephew, Cousin, and Friend

Jordan James Johnson, age 14, died on August 5, 2017, at home surrounded by his family.
Jordan was born on July 2, 2003, to parents Jim and Noelle Johnson. His body was frail, but he possessed a fighting spirit and amazing strength. He spent his entire life overcoming incredible odds and physical challenges, and always did it with a smile.
Jordan just loved life. He was born with an excellent sense of rhythm and could often be found "shaking his tail feathers" to one of his favorite tunes. He loved the Cubs, the seventh inning stretch, and even hard core White Sox fans would suffer through a Cubs game to catch his rendition of Take Me Out to the Ball Game. He loved to read books, play cards, and watch game shows with his family and friends; and every night at 6 pm you could find him laughing at an episode of Mike and Molly with mom and dad, and getting a little "tail feather shaking" in while the end credits rolled.
You couldn't spend time with Jordan and not catch his joy for living. He touched many lives in the short time he was here, and although we will miss him every day, we remind ourselves that his life is one to be celebrated.
Jordan was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Edward Anderson. He is survived by his parents, Jim and Noelle; his brother, Justin Johnson; and his sister, Kaleigh Johnson; his grandmothers, Beverly Johnson and Carol Anderson; Grandfather Harold Johnson; his aunts and uncles, Charlynda (Bob) Marckese, Craig (Annette) Johnson, Danielle (Darr) Burnside, Jodi (Ray) Thomas; his cousins, Alexandra & Aaron Burnside, and Kyle and Mikaela Johnson. They all look forward to seeing him again one day.
A service will be held on Saturday, August 12th at 11:00AM. Visitation will be from 4-9PM on Friday, August 11th, and will continue Saturday one hour prior to the service. Both will take place at Fellowship of Faith Church in McHenry, IL. All are invited.
In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to the following organizations:
The Ronald McDonald House near Advocate Children's Hospital, 4410 W 93rd St, Oak Lawn, IL 60453, - designate Ronald McDonald House near Advocate Children's Hospital. It was a safe place we could stay together during some of the hardest times of Jordan's journey when we needed each other the most.
The Rock Children's Ministry at Fellowship of Faith Lutheran Church, 6120 Mason Hill Rd., McHenry IL 60050. Because they loved Jordan and he loved them right back.
