Loving Wife, Mother and Grandmother

Obituary

This is the story of Nancy (Watson) Allen. Nancy was a wonderful woman that was loved, is missed, and will always be cherished. "Grandma Fancy", as she was lovingly called by her grandchildren, was an amazing wife, mom, and daughter.
Nancy's story starts on January 13th, 1946, the oldest child to Blair and Katherine (sister to Keith and Craig). Nancy was born in Chicago, IL. When Nancy was still little, Blair and Katherine moved their small family to Park Forest, IL, where Nancy would spend her childhood, grow up, and make many lifelong friends. She was very proud to be a Rich East Township High School alum and recently attended her 50th year high school reunion where she enjoyed catching up with old friends. After graduating, Nancy attended Northern Illinois University where she would meet the love of her life, Charles Scott Allen. Nancy and Charles spent many hardworking years on the beloved family farm in Bull Valley, IL. This historic dairy farm is where Nancy & Charles raised their two daughters, Cassie Allen Daisy and Jessica Allen Krueger.
Nancy was best known for her deep love of nature. After working for a Downtown Chicago advertising firm (which, fun fact, allowed her to attend the Grammy's), Nancy opened her own flower shop in Barrington IL. Nancy ran the shop for 25 years, constantly expressing her love for nature through the language of flowers.
In her retirement, Nancy's greatest joy was spending time with her four grandchildren. The grandchildren gave Nancy her nickname of "Grandma Fancy" because of her eclectic style and love of sparkly accessories.
Nancy will be missed by her husband Charles Scott Allen, daughter and son-in-law Cassie Allen Daisy and Chris Daisy, daughter and son-in-law Jessica Allen Krueger and David Krueger, and her grandchildren Luke, Sebastian, Marko, and Owen.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, May 19th at Colonial Funeral Home & Crematory at 591 Ridgeview Drive in McHenry IL from 11am to 3pm with a short service beginning at 2:30pm. Immediately following the visitation the family will be hosting a celebration of Nancy's life at the family farm (5701 Bull Valley Road, McHenry IL). Given Nancy's love of nature, the family will be scattering her ashes at Sunset to conclude the celebration.
