Obituary

Phillip Edward Bartmann, age 77, of Johnsburg, recently of Fox Lake, IL, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, December 3, 2020, in Arkdale, WI. Phil was born January 12, 1943,in Chicago, the son of Edward and Veronica (DeMarchi) Bartmann. On February 1, 1964, Phil married the love of his life, Janice Wakitsch in St. John the Baptist Church in Johnsburg.

Phil proudly served our country in the United States Army. After his military service, Phil later became the Owner/President of RADICOM for many years. He was also a retired Assistant Fire Chief & former Trustee of the McHenry Township Fire Protection District and MCHS District 156 School Board Member.
For many years he was heavily involved in the McHenry Rotary Club, McHenry JAYCEES, McHenry Chamber of Commerce, United Way, and the Fox Waterway Agency. Phil was also a member of the Johnsburg Community Club, and was a recipient of the FRANK E. LOW Award.

Phil is survived by his loving wife, Janice Bartmann; 3 children: Jeffrey (Kelly) Bartmann, Patricia Bartmann, and Linda (Stephen) Salvatori; 5 grandchildren; Stephanie (Joseph) Roehrig, Michael Bartmann, Erin Paschke, Joseph Bartmann, and Jacob Salvatori; and 2 great-grandchildren:
Payton and Jamison. Phil is further survived by his 2 sisters: Donna Zwolfer of Elkhorn, WI and Judy Nett of McHenry, IL; cousin,
Charles Bartmann of Lincolnshire, IL; sister and brothers-in-law: Marylou (John) Olson, J. Richard (Carol) Wakitsch, Thomas (Christine) Wakitsch,
Robert (Debra) Wakitsch, Joel (Linda) Wakitsch, and Randal (Julie) Wakitsch.

In addition to his mother, Veronica Fraunhoffer, Step-Father, George Fraunhoffer, and father, Edward Bartmann, Phil is preceded in death by his brothers-in-law: Rudolph Zwolfer and Eugene Nett, nephews: Vincent Nett and Kevin Wakitsch, and great niece: Jeanine Sheridan.

A Visitation for Phil will be from 3-7 P.M., on Thursday, December 10, 2020, at Colonial Funeral Home, 591 Ridgeview Drive, McHenry.
There will be a Fire Department Walk – Through at 6:30 P.M.
A Funeral Mass will be said on Friday morning at 9 A.M., at St. John the Baptist Church, 2302 West Church St, Johnsburg.
Interment will be in St. John Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations are encouraged in Phil's name to the McHenry Area Rotary Club for the AP Testing Program. Checks may be mailed to McHenry Area Rotary, P.O. Box 28, McHenry, IL 60051.

Due to current CDC Covid 19 recommendations and Illinois mandates only 10 people will be allowed within the funeral home facilities at a single time and all attendees must have a face mask or face covering on prior to entry. We welcome everyone who would like to attend but ask that you make your visit brief in order to allow for everyone in attendance to be able to have an opportunity to show their support for the family.
