Ralph Diederich a long- time resident of Wonder Lake IL passed away unexpectedly on January 13, 2021 at Burlington Aurora health Center in Burlington, WI.

Ralph grew up in Chicago where he attended Catholic school and met his high school sweetheart, Ralph and Patricia eventually married and had four children. They would have been married 54 years April 22, 2021. Ralph's family was an important part of his life. Ralph enjoyed time with his family. They spent many summers in Wisconsin Dells, WI. He enjoyed coaching youth baseball, boating, camping, flying watching NASCAR and football. Community involvement was a very important part of his life too.

Ralph had a career as mechanic and truck driver. He was a retired Wonder Lake volunteer Firefighter, EMT and a search and rescue scuba diver. He was also a past trustee.

Ralph is a proud Vietnam Veteran. He joined the USAF at the age of 19. He served in the military from 1966 - 1970. He was stationed in Da Nang, Vietnam. He became a trained mechanic during his service. During his time in Vietnam, he was exposed to agent orange and ultimately succumbed to his ailments related to agent orange.

Ralph wanted to give back to the military and felt it was important to support veterans in any way he could. He volunteered for many military organizations. He was a past commander of VFW, American Legion and Military Order of the Cootie, and Knights of Columbus 4th Degree. He was also a board member of the VAC and involved in PLAV, Vietnow, Vrein, and AMVETS

Ralph's life experiences always lent a hand to some amazing, funny and heart felt stories. Ralph was a dreamer and never gave up on his dreams. He encouraged everyone around him to dream big. He will be missed by all that knew him. May his stories live on in all of us.

Ralph is survived by his wife: Patricia (Triggs) ; his son John (Lynda) Diederich of Evansville, WI.; daughter Nancy of Wonder Lake; son Brian of Wonder Lake; and daughter Dana of Wonder Lake; his sister Cathy (Tom) Engleman of Channahon, IL; brother Mike (Margaret) Oester of Lafayette, IN.; sister-in-law Kathleen (Jim) Pieroni of Lockport, IL.;and sister-in-law Mary Beth Koelper of Palm Harbor, FL. .

He was preceded in death by his parents Jerry and Bernice Diederich; as well as his brother-in-law Marty Koelper

Visitation for Ralph will be held from 3-7 P.M., on Tuesday evening, January 19, 2021, at Colonial Funeral Home, 591 Ridgeview Drive, McHenry, IL.
Due to current CDC Covid 19 recommendations and Illinois mandates, only 10 people will be allowed within the funeral home facilities at a single time and all attendees must wear a face mask upon entry.
