Loving Husband, Dad, Grandpa, Great-Grandpa, Brother, & Friend

Richard C. Slaby, age 77 of McHenry, passed away on May 2, 2021, surrounded by family.

He was born to parents Titus and Wanda (Witkowski) Slaby, on November 7, 1943, in Chicago, Illinois.

After graduating from Proviso West High School in 1961, he attended college at Illinois Institute of Technology. During the Vietnam War, Rich served in the United States Army as a medical corpsman at Martin Army Hospital at Fort Benning, Georgia, and was awarded the National Defense Service Medal for Marksmanship.

Rich is loved and remembered as a devoted husband and father who asked for so little but gave so very much. One of his biggest accomplishments was being a cherished father to four daughters, who will forever treasure memories of the patient, kind, smart, funny, honest, selfless, steady and hard-working man he was.

In his free time, he enjoyed spending time with his family and working on home-improvement projects with his wife Lora. He also liked golfing, reading, following sports, watching movies and favorite TV shows like Monk and Justified. Rich had a great sense of humor and often reminded those he loved to not take life too seriously.
